The Reds midfielder was in good form before his injury and despite his lengthy lay-off, is determined to get back to training as soon as possible
Liverpool confirmed midfielder Lucas has successfully undergone surgery on his knee in Brazil.
The Brazilian picked up an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament against Chelsea in the League Cup at the end of last month, and was expected to be out until well into the new year.
The operation took place in Sao Paulo and the 24-year-old is hoping to leave hospital on Friday.
A statement on the club's website said: "LFC medical staff were present during the procedure.
"Lucas will now begin an agreed rehabilitation programme which will be overseen by the Club's medical team."
