Liverpool Hope £15m Enough to Beat Juventus to South American Playmaker

Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with a move for Bologna's creative midfielder Gaston Ramirez who has been attracting interest from a host of European clubs.

gaston ramirez2The 21-year-old is fast growing a reputation as one of the most in-demand midfielders in Serie A after a string of impressive performances for Bologna ever since signing from Penarol in 2010.

It had been believed that Juventus were the favourites to snap up the Uruguay international, but Liverpool are hoping to hijack any move and are reportedly prepared to offer as much as £15million for the youngster

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is keen to add a playmaker to his side after watching a number of performances where his side have dominated procession but fail to convert chances.

Liverpool secured a 1-0 win at Anfield over QPR earlier today but Dalglish was said to be unhappy with the performance and is keen to further strengthen his squad during the January transfer window.

Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool scouts on a number of occasions and are hopeful that the likes of Luis Suarez and Sebastien Coates, both international team-mates of Ramirez, can convince the midfielder to choose a move to Anfield.

Bologna do not want to part with their star player and recently tied him down to a contract until 2016, but are aware that as they continue to struggle in the league they will find it difficult to keep hold of the midfielder.
